5 Lessons I Learned From Social Media Marketing

social media marketing lessons learned pinterestJust a few years ago social media was mainly used to keep in touch with friends. You signed up for social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter to follow your friends and family. Today social media marketing is one of the biggest ways to advertise your services and book more clients. Knowing how to effectively use social media and the ways in which it can improve your business is crucial to success.

Here are 5 ways in which social media marketing can help your event planning business:

1. Increase Brand Awareness

Social media marketing is great for increasing exposure for your event planning business. Even without a large following, social media allows you to connect with potential clients. This means that you can reach potential clients who you’ve already worked with, as well as others who have found your business through your social media accounts.

As of January 2018, over 39% of females in the US are on Instagram for example. Think of what this means for your reach to future brides.

2. Increase Traffic to your Website

You can include links to your website in your social media profiles. Potential customers who find you can link back to your website to get more information about your business. This guarantees higher conversion rates when you have the opportunity to turn a potential client into an actual client. Your website will be more detailed in terms of your packages, prices and other services, whereas your social media account is mainly focused on pretty pictures and conversations.

3. Improve your SEO

Search Engine Optimization is an important part of being able to get found by more clients. The more clients that find you the higher the probability of getting booked. Google might disagree with me on this one, as it is often said that there is no correlation between SEO and social media.

Here’s my challenge to you: Go to google right now and search for a company that you often use, this could be an online store, website etc. I guarantee that within the top 10 results for their name will be at least one of their social media accounts.

What does this mean for your business? Simple, if your social media account is ranking in the top search results for your business, then you have an even greater chance of getting found. This is how social media helps to improve your SEO.

4. Connect with Potential Customers

Hands down, one of the best things about social media is that it allows you to connect with clients you’ve never met. Potential clients can search a location, hashtag or just search term and find your business. You now have the power to convert those potential clients into paying clients by strategically sharing content. Use these connections to amplify your business by starting conversations. Answer their questions, see what they’re struggling with and let them know how you can help. You can start by sharing more about your events, services, behind the scenes of your business, your personal life and even inspirational posts. This is your venue for really speaking to clients and showing them the value that you provide.

5. Low-Cost Advertising

One of my favourite things about social media is being able to advertise to potential clients. Facebook, for example, allows you to get your brand in front of a lot of clients for a low cost. Facebook ads, give you the option to select exactly who you would like to market to. Example: You can choose to market only to engaged females with an income over $30,000. This is targetted marketing at its best. Even more impressive, you can set your Facebook ads at your desired budget and limit your costs.

These are just some of the top ways in which social media can help your business. What are some of the ways in which you’ve been using social media to book more clients?
